Shortly after 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, officers received a report from a 47-year-old woman that a local resident had intentionally damaged her vehicle with hard balls while she was parked and sitting in her vehicle near the intersection of Wildwood Road and Vernon Road in Scarsdale.
According to police, the woman said that while she was parked, the suspect, whose name was not released, “approached her in an upset tone and told her to move.”
The woman stated that she was legally parked and refused to move, at which point, the suspect began shooting lacrosse balls at a net intentionally striking her vehicle four times.
Police said that the woman began recording the suspect on her phone and proceeded to call police.
“The suspect is seen intentionally throwing/shooting a ball directly at the victim’s car, striking it hard enough to cause a quarter sized dent in the front passenger side door,” according to the report.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers said that they spoke with both parties, and determined that the actions were intentional, as the woman’s vehicle was not parked directly behind the net and could have been “easily avoided.”
The woman told officers she did not wish to press charges against the suspect, and alerted officers that she simply wanted to document the incident.
